She was born on Jan. 28, 1943 in Marinette, the daughter of Norman and Helen (Marlett) Dahlke. Dee grew up in Escanaba and graduated from Escanaba High School in 1960. She went on to attend Northern Michigan University and the University of Michigan. The former Delores Dahlke married Thomas Lavolette in September of 1961. Most recently, Dee was employed at UPCAP as a housing specialist. Dee was an avid football fan who cheered on the Green Bay Packers each week. She loved playing bridge, reading, listening to music, and beating the contestants to the answer while watching the Wheel of Fortune. She was well known as a caring neighbor who regularly checked in on those in her neighborhood; providing friendship and hot meals. Dee was affectionately known by her nieces and nephews, who were getting their fingers into things that shouldn’t have been, as “Aunt Tut Tut.” Throughout her life she was involved in various aspects of the community. Dee served on the Intermediate School District Board of Education, and the Housing Board at Harbor Tower in Escanaba. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Escanaba. Family meant the world to Delores, especially spending time with her two grandchildren. Dee was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who will be deeply missed.
