Megan A. Marshall

IRON MOUNTAIN, Mich. – Megan A. Marshall, 29, of Escanaba, Mich., formerly of Kingsford, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, Dec. 27, 2015, at Dickinson County Healthcare System, Iron Mountain.

She was born Sept. 21, 1986, in Iron Mountain, daughter of Francis and Sarah (Wernecke) Marshall.

Megan grew up in Kingsford and graduated from Kingsford High School, Class of 2005.

She went on to attend the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Mich., and completed two years of graduate school at Wayne State University in Detroit, Mich. Megan worked for a year in Lansing, Mich., before moving to Escanaba in 2012, where she began work for the Delta Intermediate School District as a school psychologist.

She was an avid skier who volunteered for the Moving Mountains Adaptive Ski Program. Megan enjoyed reading, traveling, biking, camping and kayaking She enjoyed spending time with her dog, Kensi.

Megan is survived by her parents, Francis and Sarah Marshall, Iron Mountain; one sister, Molly Marshall, Iron Mountain; her half-sister; Richelle (Elana) Esquivel, Justin, Texas; two uncles, Steve (Nancy) Wernecke and Randy (Marya) Wernecke; and two cousins, Hannah and Jack.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Garland and Colletta Marshall, and maternal grandparents, William and Colleen Wernecke.

Visitation will be held Thursday, Dec. 31, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain. The Funeral Service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Fr. Paul Nomellini will officiate.
