Anita Mae Lamberg

Rapid River, Mich. – Anita Mae Lamberg, 87, passed away Thursday, Feb. 5, 2015, at her home in Ensign surrounded by her family and relatives. Prayers were said by family members and her nephew, Deacon Rod Groleau.

Anita was born May 25, 1927, in St. Jacques, Mich., the daughter of Omer and Florestine (Sabourin) Groleau and raised in St. Jacques. She was united in marriage to Edward Lamberg on Nov. 22, 1947, and they made their home in Ensign where they raised their five children.

Anita worked as a nurse’s aide at a convalescent home in Wells, Mich., and as a seamstress for the Venus Company in Escanaba, Mich. She also enjoyed babysitting for many of her nieces and nephews. Her most pleasing vocation was being a homekeeper, raising children with her husband and reaching out to visitors to her home. Anita was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Rapid River. She was a devoted parishioner, a member of the choir, a teacher of catechism, and a dedicated volunteer of the Altar Society. She was a lifelong member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 301 in Rapid River.

Anita was a woman of great faith and this faith was seen in all that she did and in her interactions with others. She was a kind, devoted wife, a loving affectionate mother, a comforting grandmother, and a compassionate friend to all. She will be remembered for her ability to help others feel welcomed, her hugs, warm sense of humor, unending spreads of cookies, coffee cakes, and breads, bottomless cups of coffee, and most of all, for making others feel special and loved. Anita’s hobbies included singing, sewing, cooking, baking, and visiting with others.

Survivors Include her husband, Edward; children, Glenn (Phyllis) of Rapid River, Loita Buchholtz (Mike, deceased) of Escanaba, Yvonne Buchholtz (Thomas) of Bark River, Mich., Rhonda (Robert Pacella) of Houghton Lake, Mich., Edward II (Heidi) of Hendersonville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Bradley (Michelle), Derek, Raquel Billings (Brent), Ranae Zellar (Doug), Robert and Riley Pacella, Christina and Nicole; great-grandchildren:, Camden, Zoe, Hannah, Olivia, Zachary and Zayden Zellar; brother, Robert Wade Groleau (Marlene) of St. Jacques; sister, Rosalyn Plas (Leo, deceased) of St. Jacques; sisters-in-law, Meryle Groleau (Leo, deceased) of Nahma, Mich., and Donella Groleau (Rosario, deceased) of Clinton, Wis.; godchild, Joanne Clement Ostrega of Wood Dale, Wis.

In addition to her parents; several nieces and nephews; Anita was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Rudolph (Katie), Leila (Walter) Moser, Edward (Jerita), Irene (Fred) Clement, Emil (Eldora), Rosario (Myrtle), Loretta (Alvin) Pomeroy, Rita (Pete) LaBumbard, Gerald (Inez), Leo, Gary (Marion) (Sandy); and two infant siblings.

Anita’s family will receive visitors on Friday, Feb. 13, from 5 to 7:15 p.m. at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone, Mich., with a parish prayer service at 7:15 p.m. followed by a time of sharing. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, Feb. 14, at 11 a.m. at the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Rapid River with Rev. Jacek Wtyklo officiating. Luncheon will follow at the Parish Hall. Interment will be in the spring at the Rapid River Cemetery.
