Escanaba house fire leaves one person with minor injuries

ESCANABA – One person had minor injuries after a house fire early Monday at 604 S. 17th St.
Escanaba Public Safety Department was dispatched about 2:24 a.m., arriving to find the front of the house engulfed, with flames rolling over the roofline, according to an EPSD news release.
Firefighters deployed attack lines to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby residences, although one adjacent house had minor damage from the heat. Crews also worked to extinguish flames that had gotten into the attic from the main level of the home, the news release states.
The resident who had minor injuries was transported to OSF St. Francis Hospital for treatment.
Responders were on site for about three hours Monday morning. The Escanaba Public Safety Department was assisted by the Ford River Township Fire Department, Escanaba Township Fire Department, Rampart EMS, Delta County Central Dispatch, Escanaba City Electrical and Public Works Departments and DTE.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
