ESCANABA — Escanaba City Council incumbents Mark Ammel and Ronald J. Beauchamp were sworn for another term in Monday night at the council’s reorganizational meeting after winning re-election Nov. 4.
Todd Flath, an incumbent on the council who was also reelected, was absent and will be sworn back in at the council’s regular meeting Nov. 20.
Beauchamp then nominated Ammel for mayor, who received all four votes. Ammel has been mayor since 2021.
Beauchamp nominated council member Tyler DuBord as mayor pro-tem, while council member Karen Moore nominated herself. Beauchamp, DuBord and Ammel voted in favor of DuBord, with Moore being a nay vote.
Moore had been mayor pro-tem since 2021.
