MANISTIQUE — The annual Super Saturday Snowshoe event at the Manistique Township Environmental Education Lab will be held February 11 from 10 a.m. to noon. This free event is for people of all ages, and there will be snowshoes on hand to borrow, loaned by St. Francis de Sales School and the Manistique Area Schools.

Much of the work on the Recreation Passport Grant that the township received for the Lab was completed this past fall. A significant portion of the main trail has been widened and the new cut-across was widened as well, allowing for easy snowshoeing. In the spring, final trail work will be done along with the installation of interpretive signs and the completion of the new outhouse. Please note that no restrooms are available on site at this time.

The Environmental Education Lab is located on 80 acres at the end of Krummich Road in Manistique Township. From US-2 turn north onto the River Road, go one mile and turn left on Krummich Road (where the big powerline crosses). After one mile, Krummich takes a sharp left. Continue on Krummich to the Lab parking area. More information is available on the Lab’s Facebook page @EELabManistique. The Lab is always open for hiking, biking and snowshoeing.
