Upper Peninsula State Bank to open office in Houghton

ESCANABA — Upper Peninsula State Bank is planning to expand to Houghton County and the Copper Country. The bank will be located at 906 Razorback Drive, Suite #1. Because they already have many customers in the Copper Country – both in deposits as well as projects they have funded, the bank had frequently been asked about opening offices in that area. Further, their officers have strong business and personal ties in the Copper Country. They recently opened a new banking office in Marquette, Michigan and anticipate opening the new Houghton office in the second quarter of 2022.

“The Copper Country is a thriving and progressive area, and we are excited about bringing our full complement of banking services to the great citizens and businesses of this area. These include commercial, mortgage, and consumer loans, a full array of deposit products, e-banking services, and brokerage services — all with a client and results-driven focus. Personally, as a native of the Copper Country and graduate of Michigan Technological University, I am very happy to be bringing our brand of banking home to this area,” Upper Peninsula State Bank President and CEO David C. Williams said.

“For 120 years, we have served and focused solely on the financial needs of the citizens and businesses of the Upper Peninsula. This is a great and exciting step for our bank and for those whom our banking services and technologies will be able to better reach,” Chairman of the Board Robert N. Bink said. “Upper Peninsula State Bank is consistently recognized as one of the highest performing banks in the State of Michigan and it gives us great pleasure to bring that security and technology to the Copper Country.”

Upper Peninsula State Bank is a full service bank established in 1902 and headquartered in the Upper Peninsula with offices in Escanaba, Iron Mountain, Gladstone and Marquette. The bank holds the highest ratings from the nation’s top independent rating agencies, Bauer Financial, and Weiss Ratings.
