U.P. COVID-19 cases up by 47
ESCANABA — State COVID-19 data Monday showed five new confirmed positives in Menominee County and four new in Delta County.
For the Upper Peninsula, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ coronavirus website Monday listed a total of 47 new confirmed cases since Saturday: 11 in Houghton County; 10 in Dickinson County; seven in Chippewa County; six in Marquette County; five in Menominee County; four in Delta County; two in Gogebic County; and one each in Alger, Ontonagon and Mackinac counties; Iron County’s count was reduced by one.
Using only the state’s figures, the Upper Peninsula as of Monday has had 16,844 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 394 deaths.
Across the U.P., the MDHHS data site Monday had Keweenaw County at 122 confirmed cases and 30 probable, and one death and one probable death; Luce County, 134 confirmed cases and 108 probable, one probable death; Schoolcraft County, 237 confirmed cases and 36 probable, four deaths and one probable; Alger County, 283 confirmed, 160 probable and one death, four probable; Mackinac County, 304 confirmed cases and 164 probable, three deaths; Ontonagon County, 371 confirmed, 56 probable and 20 deaths, one probable; Baraga County, 511 confirmed cases, 103 probable and 33 deaths; Chippewa County, 774 confirmed cases and 1,071 probable, and 24 deaths, four probable; Iron County, 869 confirmed cases and 61 probable, 42 confirmed deaths and nine probable; Gogebic County, 956 confirmed cases and 353 probable, 21 confirmed deaths and 28 probable; Menominee County, 1,640 confirmed cases, 273 probable and 38 deaths, two probable; Dickinson County, 2,165 confirmed cases and 249 probable, 55 confirmed deaths and 16 probable; Houghton County, 2,220 confirmed cases, 546 probable, 31 confirmed deaths and eight probable; Delta County, 2,728 confirmed cases and 498 probable, 66 confirmed deaths and 19 probable; and Marquette County, 3,530 confirmed cases, 564 probable and 55 deaths, one probable. State numbers are updated almost daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.
The MDHHS on Monday posted 4,801 confirmed new coronavirus positives in Michigan since Saturday for a total of 629,612. The state Monday added only six new deaths for the two-day period to reach 15,903.
