Manistique man killed in crash in Cooks area

COOKS — A 33-year-old Manistique man died after a single vehicle crash in Cooks Wednesday.

The Michigan State Police at the Manistique Outpost were called to a one-vehicle crash on County Road 442 near County Road 437 in Cooks at 6:13 p.m. Wednesday.

According to troopers, a vehicle, driven by a 33-year-old Manistique man was eastbound road when he lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle went off the right side of the roadway and struck trees. The driver was ejected from the vehicle.

The man was pronounced dead, troopers said.

The driver’s name is being withheld pending further investigation by police.

Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Sault Tribal Police, Inwood Township Fire Department, EMS, Manistique Public Safety and Burns Towing.
