Collision claims life of Menominee County man

POWERS — A two-vehicle traffic crash Sunday resulted in the death of a Menominee County man, according to the Michigan State Police at the Gladstone Post.

Troopers were dispatched to the crash on U.S. 2/41 just east of Powers at 7:27 p.m. on Sunday. Their investigation found the driver of the eastbound vehicle had crossed over the road’s centerline and collided with a westbound pickup truck.

The driver of the eastbound vehicle, a 78-year-old Menominee County man, was pronounced dead at the scene. The 65-year-old male driver of the westbound vehicle, also of Menominee County, was taken to OSF HealthCare St. Francis Hospital & Medical Group for minor injuries. Names of the drivers were not being released this morning.

Investigation is continuing. Troopers were assisted by Hannahville PD, Menominee County Sheriff’s Department, Harris and Spalding Township fire departments, Rampart, and local first responders.
