Woman killed in Nadeau house fire identified

NADEAU TOWNSHIP — Authorities continue to investigate a fatal house fire that occurred in Nadeau Township Wednesday.

Menominee County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a report of a house fire in Nadeau Township at 12:43 a.m. Wednesday.

After arriving on scene, it was believed the homeowner was still inside.

Firefighters from Nadeau Township Volunteer Fire Department and Spalding Township Volunteer Fire Department battled the house fire.

According to police, an unidentified victim was found dead in the home. The homeowner was identified as Susan Kay Sacheck, 60, of Carney, according to an obituary submitted to the Daily Press.

Deputies and an investigator from the sheriff’s office were assisted by Michigan State Police Fire Inspector and accelerant detection canine, Nadeau Township Volunteer Fire Department, Spalding Township Volunteer Fire Department, Mid County Rescue Squad and WE Energies.
