Escanaba Public Safety used an excavator Monday morning to reach flames in the upper story of a two-family home located at 426 1st Ave. S. Firefighters were already at the scene by 4:30 a.m. In addition to destroying the home itself, a neighboring home located at 412 1st Ave. South sustained exterior damage due to the heat from the blaze. Assisting at the scene was Rampart EMS and the Escanaba Public Works Department. Further information was unavailable this morning.
