Deadline for plea extended in criminal sexual conduct case

ESCANABA — A Gladstone teen who is facing criminal sexual conduct charges was given an extension on his plea cut-off deadline in Delta County Circuit Court Thursday.

Dylan Michael-Patrick McDonough, 18, of 703 Dakota Ave., is facing the following two counts: one count of criminal sexual conduct – first degree (accomplices) and one count of criminal sexual conduct – second degree (accomplices). The charges stem from an alleged incident occurred around June 13, 2017 in Gladstone. Another teen is also facing charges from this incident.

Assistant Attorney General Brian Kolodziej, who is prosecuting the case, and McDonough’s attorney both appeared in court via a conference call. Sarah Henderson, who is representing McDonough, is based in Marquette and was unable to appear in person due to the bad weather Thursday. McDonough appeared in person.

Henderson asked for an extension for the plea cut-off deadline, which is the deadline when a plea agreement needs to be reached.

Kolodziej did not object to the request for an extension so Circuit Court Judge John Economopoulos extended the deadline to April 5. McDonough’s supplemental pre-trial/plea hearing is scheduled for the following Monday, April 8.
