Gun and knife show set this weekend

RAPID RIVER — The Marble Plus Knife Club of Rapid River will hold its 24th Annual Cabin Fever Gun and Knife show Feb. 1 and 2, at the Rapid River Lion’s Club, 10465 South Main St. The show, co-sponsored with the Delta County Gun Owners Association, will be held Friday from noon to 7 p.m. on Friday with a charity auction to start after the show. The auction is open to the public. Saturday the show will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“We will have 25 to 30 various items in the charity auction,” said Jim Decremer, vice president of the Marble Plus Knife Club. “Every year the money we raise goes toward various charities in the area.”

Recently the club donated 20 eight-foot tables to the Rapid River Lions Club.

Both days the Rapid River Lion’s Club members will have food items available to purchase.

“Every year the Marble Plus Knife Club members do a lot of work to raise money,” said Decremer. “We have given out over $40,000 in donations, to the Salvation Army, St. Vincent de Paul, U.P. Honor Flight, Bay Cliff and other charities.”

The Marble Plus Knife Club also sponsor activities in the Rapid River Memorial Day celebration, and support the Memorial Day queen competition each year.

Decremer has been a member of the Marble Plus Knife Club shortly after it started, approximately 26 years ago. He has been a member of the Rapid River Lion’s Club for 53 years.

“We have about 30 members in the local Marble Plus Knife Club, and meet every second Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. in the Rapid River Lion’s Club,” said Decremer.

There is an admission fee to the Annual Cabin Fever Gun and Knife show. Children under 12 can attend the show free, with an adult who has paid admission.

All federal, state and local firearm ordinances and laws will be obeyed.
