Car collides with Escanaba school bus

ESCANABA — A woman was injured this morning after her car collided with an Escanaba Area Public Schools bus, Escanaba Public Safety officers said.

The accident occurred on M-35 near 18th Avenue South about 7:43 a.m. Officers said a Chevrolet Impala rear-ended an elementary school bus that had stopped to pick up students.

The school bus was occupied by five students and a bus driver. The female driver of the Impala was injured in the crash. Her condition was unknown at press time. Escanaba Public Safety was not releasing the names of the persons involved this morning.

The accident caused traffic to be delayed for about 30 minutes. The Jaws of Life were called to the scene, but were not needed, officers said.

Investigation is continuing.
