Man killed by falling tree

MAPLE RIDGE TOWNSHIP — A man was killed at his Delta County camp Wednesday after he was struck by a falling tree, Michigan State Police at the Gladstone Post said.

At approximately 1:10 p.m., Troopers were dispatched to a camp on Summer Meadow G.5 Rd in Maple Ridge Township for a man who was knocked unconscious after a tree fell on him.

Dale Dennison, 73, of Milan Mich., was working at his camp when a tree he was cutting got caught on other trees and did not fall. Dennison then tied a rope to the bottom of the tree and began pulling on it with his four-wheeler. The tree suddenly started to fall toward Dennison, but he was unable to get out the way of the tree in time. The tree struck Dennison causing fatal injuries.

CPR was performed by multiple troopers on scene and Rock EMS, along with use of an AED, but attempts to revive Dennison were unsuccessful. Dennison was pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers were assisted on scene by Rock EMS and Skradski Funeral Home.
