Esky’s city-wide rummage sale starts Friday

ESCANABA — The annual city-wide rummage sale — Trash to Cash — will be held Friday and Saturday in Escanaba from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The city’s Trash to Treasure event will be held Sunday from 8 a.m. to noon.

Residents were encouraged to sign-up to participate in the sales by the end of May. A full list of all of rummage sales in Escanaba can be found on the city’s website and Facebook page, along with paper copies at grocery stores and gas stations. A list of sales will also appear in today’s Daily Press. Approximately 60 addresses have been registered with the city to participate.

The purpose is to provide Escanaba residents with a way to recycle reusable household items such as furniture, lamps, electronics, and other working household goods.

Trash to Cash is also designed to increase awareness of recycling and having less waste end up at the landfill.

Current and college-bound students are also encouraged to participate, as they may find items that will be useful to them in their dormitory or apartment.

During the Trash to Treasure portion of the weekend, anything that is not sold during the rummage sale, can be placed on the curbs throughout city limits, and are free for residents to take.

Those interested in taking part in the event are asked to place their reusable/serviceable items in front of their house on the curb no later than 8 a.m. Sunday, June 10, and remove them by noon the same day.
