Task force probe leads to sexual assault arrest

ESCANABA — An Escanaba man was recently arrested for a sexual assault on a minor child following an investigation by the Michigan State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

Samuel Robert Good, 28, of 1810 1st Ave. S., No. 3, Escanaba, was charged with four felony counts stemming from incidents in December 2017 in Escanaba involving a minor victim age 13-15 years old, according to Det./Sgt. Brian Kjellin, a member of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

Good is charged with the following four counts: third-degree criminal sexual conduct of a minor child aged 13-15 years old, a 15-year felony; using the Internet or computer to communicate with a minor child, a 20-year felony with a maximum fine of $20,000 and reimbursement of government expenses in the investigation; using the Internet or computer to commit a crime (involving a minor child) with a maximum punishment of four years to 10 years, a 10-year felony with a maximum fine of $5,000; and encouraging a child less than 16 years old for immoral purposes, a four-year felony with a maximum fine of $4,000.

The above charges were recently bound over from Delta County District Court to circuit court where Good is scheduled for a pretrial conference hearing on April 19 when he may make a plea or schedule a trial.

Good remains lodged in the Delta County Jail in lieu of a $500,000 cash or surety bond. He has been ordered to have no contact with the victim. Upon release from jail, he cannot leave the county without the court’s permission.
