A new truck in town
Escanaba Public Works Department’s new automated garbage truck was put into action for the first time when another truck broke down on the route Tuesday. The 2018 Heil Rapid Rail Freightliner cost $220,000 and replaced a 2007 model that was traded in with 106,500 miles logged. Pictured is Public Works mechanic Dave Dlugas checking the new vehicle following its maiden run Tuesday. The department has two garbage trucks which run routes five days a week and a spare truck.
