MIOSHA, Bay to deliver safety training

ESCANABA — To support worker safety and health across the state, Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA) is offering Excavations: The Grave Danger in an instructor-led online format. Bay College, a co-sponsor of the Michigan Training Institute (MTI) and MIOSHA Safety Training, is hosting the training on Tuesday, June 9, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Excavations: The Grave Danger meets the elective requirement for the MTI Level One Construction Safety and Health Certification. This course is also approved for both residential builders’ pre-licensure and continuing safety training requirements. The training seminar will provide an overview of MIOSHA Part 9: Excavations, Trenching, and Shoring and focus on the hazards in and around an excavation, the duties and role of the qualified person, soil classification and testing, and an overview of the protective systems used to support and protect employees in an excavation.

There is a fee to attend and includes all course material. To register or view additional course offerings, visit mytraining.baycollege.edu. For questions or more information, call 906-217-4200.
