Superior Central in High School Bowl

The Superior Central Cougars played the Marquette Redmen in the first quarter final round of High School Bowl and won by a score of 230-130. Forty schools from the Upper Peninsula and Northern Wisconsin field teams for WNMU-TV’s High School Bowl tournament, now celebrating 42 years on the air. Superior Central will advance to the semi-finals when they play Calumet in Game 37, scheduled to air on March 28. Representing Superior Central, seated from left, are players Olivia Millin, Josie Valima, team captain Betty Jo Swajanen and Maezie Nettleton. Standing is alternate Diane Augustyn and coach Shannon Hancock. Players for Marquette are, seated from left, Travis Young, team captain Leandra Bruggink, Kevin Zhang and Ian Addison. Standing are supporting classmates, coach Jesse Kainulainen, and alternates Charles Henry and Silas McNeally. High School Bowl host Jim Koski is standing at lower left.
