EMS committee creates scholarship

ESCANABA — The Bay College EMS Conference Committee has developed two scholarships to be awarded to students enrolled in the EMT or paramedic program at Bay College. The scholarships will assist students in pursuing a career in the medical professions of emergency medical technician (EMT) or paramedic. These candidates are studying to become nationally certified by the National Registry of EMT (NREMT) and licensed in Michigan in their respective fields of study. Upon completion and licensing, they will be ready to work, serve, and help save lives in their communities.

“There is a great need for both EMTs and paramedics in the medical field. This scholarship money will help support students on their path to becoming emergency medical professionals by helping to remove financial barriers,” said EMT/Paramedic Instructor Amy Anderson,

Bay College awards nearly 300 scholarships every year to graduating high school seniors, current students, and returning learners. Over $420,000.00 is available for students in scholarships for Academic Year 2020-2021, and a scholarship application must be submitted by March 15 to be considered. The application can be found online at www.baycollege.edu/scholarships. Students may contact the Financial Aid Office at 906-217-4020 with any questions regarding the online application. Scholarships are available for academic excellence, financial need, and specific academic programs.
