Defendants get jail sentences on drug changes

ESCANABA — An Escanaba woman was sentenced to seven months in jail on a drug charge in Delta County Circuit Court recently.

Marissa Mae Tallberg, 24, of 312 N. 19th St., Apt. No. 2, Escanaba, pleaded guilty to one count of controlled substance – possession/analogues.

She was sentenced to seven months in jail and credited for one day already served. She will be placed on probation for two years.

Tallberg’s driver’s license will be suspended for 30 days and restricted for 150 days.

She was ordered to pay $1,088 in fines and costs.

According to the Delta County Prosecutor’s Office, on May 23, 2019, a search warrant was executed at a residence on South 15th Street in Escanaba.

Following an investigation by the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement South Team, multiple individuals were arrested, including Tallberg.

The prosecutor’s office said Tallberg admitted to being in possession of Ritalin that was not prescribed to her.

The others arrested included: Brady Mason, who was sentenced to nine months in jail for maintaining a drug house, and Justin Beauchamp, who is awaiting trial for a charge of delivery/manufacturing meth.

UPSET was assisted in their investigation by Delta County Sheriff’s Department and Escanaba Department of Public Safety.
