Registration now open fo Frosty 1K or 5K Character Walk/Run

MANISTIQUE — Registration is now open for the Frosty 1K or 5K Character Walk/Run set for Feb. 22. The race is part of the Manistique Recreation Department’s 12th Annual SnoFest celebration in Manistique’s Central Park. While traditionally a 5K walk/ run, this year the Frosty event has been extended to include a child-friendly 1K walk/run on the pathway circling Quarry Lake.

Both the 5K and 1K are “character” events, meaning runners who dress as any “frosty” or winter character (think Santa, Frosty the Snowman, Anna, Elsa, and more) will receive a discount on their registration. Price of registration will increase in each participation category for those registering on the day of the race.

Day-of registration for the Frosty 1K will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the Manistique Community Center in Central Park. The race will begin at 9 a.m. Day of registration for the Frosty 5K will begin at 9:30 a.m., also at the center. The race will begin at 10 a.m. The Frosty 5K is a road race.

Each participant in both races will receive a commemorative T-shirt and medal, as well as refreshments following the event. Top finishers will receive prizes.

Frosty 5K Road Race and Walk registration forms are available at Manistique City Hall, online at cityofmanistique.org/departmentofrecreation/ snofest-2020/ or on the Manistique Recreation Department’s Facebook page.

Members of the Upper Peninsula Road Runners Club receive a discount on registration.
