Escanaba Public Safety makes donations

ESCANABA — The Catherine Bonifas Civic Center received a donation from the Escanaba Department of Public Safety for its After School Program. Funds will be used to provide a healthy snack, hygiene items and school supplies to students in fourth to 12th grades throughout Delta County. Currently, there are 310 students registered to utilize this program Monday to Saturday.

The Catherine Bonifas Civic Center facility is a safe, supervised environment with staff on site. The facility has a full game room and gym. The facility hosts activities such as basketball, board games, free books, gym use, free wi-fi, laptop use, volleyball, pickleball, aerobics, gameroom, as well as housing the Community Action Agency Senior Center which offers a large variety of activities and events throughout the day as well.

Escanaba Public Safety also donated to Rock the Dock 2020 and is a sponsor of the Golf Ball Drop. The Golf Ball Drop will take place Aug. 1 at the Municipal Dock. There will be 600 golf balls sold and dropped from a Dombrowski Tree Service crane where over $7,500 in cash and prizes will be awarded. All Golf Ball Drop proceeds will benefit kids with Big Brothers/Big Sisters and the Escanaba Recreation Department..
