Grants awarded for forest programs

ESCANABA — Greg Sudderth, Chair of the Upper Peninsula Sustainable Forest and Wildlife Fund Grants Committee, has announced the recipients of the fund’s October 2019 round of grants. Those receiving grants are the Michigan Society of American Foresters – BeLeaf It of Not! and the Northwood Alliance, Inc. – Wildcat Falls Community Forest.

“We feel privileged and honored to be a committee under the guidance of such a wonderful organization such as the Community Foundation of the Upper Peninsula. It is our mission to foster a better understanding of our forests and wildlife as well as assist U.P. residents, including our youth, to become more active and enjoy the outdoors as much as possible,” said Sudderth.

The Upper Peninsula Sustainable Forest and Wildlife Fund Committee announced the next open grant round will start Jan. 31, 2020, and all grant requests and requirements must be received by 4 p.m. (EST) on Wednesday, April 1, 2020.
