Sundstrom-Young gets TORCH award

ESCANABA — Sue Sundstrom-Young is Bay College’s quarterly September – November 2019 TORCH Award winner. She is a full-time faculty member at Bay College, where she teaches criminal justice courses.

The TORCH award nomination was written by a group of students as noted in the following:

“Sue is an outstanding teacher! She will go above and beyond for any student. Sue has helped me so many times. She will always make time to talk to me whenever I’m feeling down. Sue is always happy to give me a confidence boost! Sue will always be there for her students! She puts her students first over anything! Sue is such a strong character and she always has the drive to get over any obstacles that get in her way! I am so incredibly thankful for Sue and I am happy that Sue is my advisor because I wouldn’t want anyone else to be my advisor.”

The purpose of the TORCH Award is to give personal recognition to those employees on Bay College’s campuses dedicated to the mission of the college because of their attitude, commitment, and dedication toward the higher education learning environment. TORCH stands for: Team Player; Outstanding Performance; Responsive to Others; Conscientious to Mission of Bay; Helpful to All. For one of these areas, or for one specific event or circumstance, please summarize how your nominee has shown the identified characteristic(s) while performing their job and, if applicable, how did their actions/attitude impact your job area. This award is given to one employee on a quarterly basis. Nominations will be accepted from employees, students and the community.
