Community Resource Day is Aug. 24

ESCANABA — Mission of Hope will hold a Community Resource Day Saturday in Escanaba at the Ruth Butler Building at the U.P. State Fairgrounds from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This is a free event for the community and there will be no charge for anything, according to Mission of Hope.

Resources include over 10,000 pounds of groceries, 500 plus pairs of new shoes for kids to go back to school with, 400 backpacks filled with school supplies, haircuts, family photo’s, school photo’s, diapers, lunch, community health resources including from UPHP, OSF, Bellin, Christian Park and more. Also part of Mission of HOPE is a job fair. Local unions and many local businesses will be there, according to organizers.

There will also be a kids zone with obstacle courses, bounce houses, games, a balloon artist, cotton candy and more.

“What started out as an idea from a few local pastors has turned into over 20 churches, local businesses, and many individuals coming together to breathe hope into our community. The goal is to help people have a step in the right direction. Everyone is welcome. If this will be a blessing to your family or people you know, please help us invite them to join us,” organizers said.
