MANISTIQUE — A final round of amendments to the city of Manistique’s budget for the 2018-19 fiscal year was approved by the Manistique City Council during a recent meeting.

In the original version of Manistique’s 2018-19 budget, total general fund revenues were listed as $2,235,468 and total general fund expenditures were listed as $2,234,360. The budget amendment adjusted these values — the city’s total general fund revenues were listed as $2,505,737 and its total general fund expenditures were listed as $2,505,263 in the amendment.

Minor amendments to the major street, local street, marina, marina construction project, Manistique Lakeshore Campground, landfill, Downtown Development Authority, ambulance, recreation, water and sewer funds were also approved.

“(There) were just a few adjustments,” Councilperson Paul Walker said.

Walker noted he was pleased with the work done by City Manager Sheila Aldrich and City Treasurer Zach Sanville to keep the city’s budget balanced, as well.

Manistique’s 2019-20 fiscal year will begin July 1.

In other business, the council:

– appointed Jackie Jenerou as the new city clerk, effective June 14.

“She’s very dedicated to the city,” Walker said of Jenerou.

– signed a contract with White Lake Dock & Dredge, Inc. for the discharge of treated industrial waste from the Manistique River to the city’s wastewater treatment plant. The cost of treatment is expected to be $0.03 per gallon.

– adopted policies on allowability of costs for and cash management of federal programs, conflicts of interest, procurement and travel.

– authorized Mayor Michael Perilloux to sign a fireworks display permit for the Manistique 4th of July Committee and thanked mBank for making an $11,000 donation to the committee in support of the display. The city’s fireworks show has been scheduled for Saturday, July 6.
