ESCANABA — The U.P. Trapper’s Annual Convention/Outdoor Expo is once again coming to Escanaba. One of the all-star presenters will be Lesel Reuswaat.

Lesel is a self-taught trapper from South Dakota who has captured 432 coyotes over 300 raccoons and good numbers of bobcats, badgers, fox, skunk etc. in one year. He has appeared on F&T Freedom Outdoors TV show many times and has presented at this event and National Trappers Conventions in the past. His demos are always well attended and informative. He teaches how to identify trap locations, make sets, lures and baits to use and will share knowledge he has gained in his extremely successful trapping career.

Also, Lesel’s lures will be available for sale at the convention. He is more than willing to have open dialog and answer questions during his demos.

Many other experts will be giving demos as well. Along with Reuwsaat, speakers include John Chagnon, Greg Schroeder, Jeff Dunlap, Ed Schneider, Mike Kain, Les Johnson, Al Dubord and local beaver trapping expert Ken Luedtke.

This event will be held at the U.P. State Fairgrounds in Escanaba July 26 through 27 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. (All times EDT). Camping, food and refreshments are available on the grounds. Youngsters 12 and under admitted free.

Many vendors/tailgaters will be on hand offering the latest in trapping/outdoor equipment at “convention special” prices. Items for sale on the grounds include: trapping, hunting, fishing, quilting, guns, knives and many other outdoor supplies.

This family friendly event offers activities for all ages. Raffles, contests, games, along with the always popular free fishing for the kids are sure to be of interest to all. The food vendors offer a wide variety of local cuisine sure to satisfy all taste buds.

“This is a great event which is always well attended and fun for all members of the family” said Jeremy Lundin, treasurer of U.P. Trappers District 3. “Come to Escanaba in July and you will be glad you did.”
