Wastewater discharged into lake

GLADSTONE — The Gladstone Wastewater Treatment Plant reported a partially treated wastewater discharge.

It occurred on May 9 at approximately 10:50 a.m. Wastewater personnel discovered a partially treated discharge at the wastewater treatment plant. With a rainfall amount of 1.45 inches combined with the ground being saturated, the plant cannot keep up with the flows, according to Rodney R. Schwartz, Gladstone Wastewater Plant superintendent. The state authorities and the local health department have been notified.

The discharge ended at approximately 5 p.m. on May 14. An estimated 200,000 gallons was discharged to Little Bay de Noc. If you have any questions regarding this incident, contact Rodney Schwartz at the Gladstone Wastewater Treatment Plant at 428-1757.
