Bay College hosts public lecture on autism

ESCANABA — The annual “Your Health Lecture Series,” sponsored by Bay College and Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, continues Wednesday, Feb. 6 at 7 p.m. with a talk by Dr. Barbara Thompson on understanding social motivation in autism. The presentation is free and open to the public and will be held in Bay College Student Center Conference Room 525.

Thompson will cover a variety of topics related to autism spectrum disorder including: understanding brain mechanisms involved in social motivation, gaining awareness of individual differences of social behaviors, and recognizing the need for individualized interventions for disorders of social behaviors.

Thompson is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics and Human Development at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine.
