LWV website has election information

ESCANABA — The League of Women Voters of Delta County would like to direct voters to a free, non-partisan, voter education resource, VOTE411.org. It was created to provide a personalized voting guide that includes up-to-date information the voter needs to cast his/her ballot, including who’s on your personalized ballot, information about voting early or absentee and what types of identification, if any, you will need. This information is available now by visiting VOTE411.org.

The LWVDC urges voters in Delta County to prepare for the upcoming Nov. 6 General Election by visiting Vote411.org to read and compare candidate responses to relevant issues. Vote411.org also helps voters find their polling place, check voting hours, and read tips about voting in Michigan.

“We have solicited responses to questions from the candidates running for the various local races. Voters in Delta County need to hear candidates’ positions on key issues — in their own words, without bias or favoritism,” said Ann Bissell, voter service chair of the LWVDC. “We know voters in Delta County want to be informed before they vote in the upcoming general election,” she added.

The LWVDC will also provide a printed voter guide on Oct. 29. Citizens should check the Daily Press for their copy or seek one out at public places throughout the community.

In addition, the LWVDC directs voters to the League Facebook page: www.facebook.com/DeltaCountyLeagueofWomenVoters/. There you will be able to view the forum video from Oct. 24, which includes the candidates running for the 38th Senate, the 108th State Representative and the Bay College Board of Trustees. In addition, a link has been provided to view a forum featuring the 1st Congressional candidates that took place in Alpena hosted by the local League. It can be found at www.lwvdeltacounty.org click on 2018 Elections, then State elections.

The LWV is a non-partisan political organization that has worked since the early years of the last century to encourage informed and active participation in government. The organization works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influence public policy through education and advocacy.
