Defendants sentenced in Delta County Circuit Court cases

ESCANABA — The following individuals were recently sentenced in Delta County Circuit Court in unrelated cases.

Jeff Michael Childers, 36, of 1310 2nd Ave. S., Escanaba, pleaded guilty to attempted controlled substance – maintaining a drug house. He was sentenced to nine months jail and given credit for 94 days served. His driver’s license will be suspended for 30 days and restricted for 150 days. Childers was ordered to pay $698 in fines and costs.

Jamie Lee Rose, 39, of 823 2nd Ave. S, Apt. No. 6, Escanaba, pleaded guilty to attempted controlled substance – maintaining a drug house. Rose was sentenced to nine months jail and given credit for 94 days served. Rose’s driver’s license will be suspended for 30 days and restricted for 150 days. Rose was ordered to pay $698 in fines and costs.

Michele Lynn Carpenter, 48, P.O. Box 157, Garden, pleaded guilty to one count of motor vehicle – unlawful driving away and one count of controlled substance – possession of marijuana/synthetic equivalents. She received concurrent sentences of four months for the former charge and two months for the latter, and was given credit for 24 days served. Her driver’s license will be suspended for 365 days. Carpenter was ordered to pay $808 in fines and costs.

Benjamin Robert Malnar, 43, whose address was listed as 10291 22nd Road, P.O. Box 10, Rapid River, pleaded guilty to controlled substance – maintaining a drug house. He was sentenced to three months jail and given credit for one day served. He will be placed on probation for 18 months. His driver’s license will be suspended for 30 days and restricted for 150 days. Malnar was ordered to pay $2,648 in fines and costs.
