Back Forty Mine awards scholarships

STEPHENSON — Back Forty Mine announces a series of education-focused scholarships.

The first scholarship was an essay competition. The “Mining for Tomorrow” essay contest challenged students to learn and write about mining-related topics and was open to all high school seniors in Menominee County. “What does the future of mining look like, and what role does Menominee County play?”

“I am encouraged by students who submitted an essay,” said Chantae Lessard, Aquila Resources Director Social Performance and Engagement. “It’s clear these young adults put a lot of effort into their papers and took this contest seriously. These students are further proof of the positive impact that mining can have on our community.”
