Miranda to attend trapper convention

ESCANABA — The National Trappers Association’s Annual Convention/Outdoor Show will be held at the U.P. State Fairgrounds in Escanaba July 26-28.

Among the many famous trappers/outdoor experts attending will be Tom Miranda. Miranda’s love of the outdoors is evident through all of his countless accomplishments. From capturing mink, raccoons and muskrats as a lad in Ohio to winning Safari Club International’s prestigious World Hunting Award (for the harvest of 50 animals over five continents), Miranda’s life has been dedicated to outdoors sports.

He has written seven books and produced over 60 videos on trapping/hunting. He did 20 seasons producing The Outdoor Adventure Magazine TV show aired on ESPN. Currently, he is seen on the Outdoor Channel’s series Territories Wild. He has taken over 60 whitetails on video while archery hunting and accomplished the Super Slam on North American big game.

Miranda plans to do two seminars about how he started out as a trapper and how his love for the outdoors, hard work, and determination resulted in his becoming a well-known outdoorsman: “You Make Your Own Luck….The Tom Miranda Story” and “How Trapping made me a better bow hunter.”

“We are pleased to have Tom attend this event,” said Roy Dahlgren, local convention coordinator. “Anyone interested in the outdoors has surely seen him on TV, read about him, read his articles in books and magazines, or viewed his videos. He will be one of many outdoor celebrities on hand at this event,” Dahlgren said.

The convention features items of interest to all members of the family. From raffles to vendors, to free kids fishing to trapping/hunting seminars.

Many outdoor equipment vendors will be offering their wares. Food vendors will provide lots of local food favorites. Camping is available on the grounds.
