Escanaba council to meet today

ESCANABA — Escanaba City Council will discuss narrowing the pool of candidates to interview for the city manager position when members meet at 3 p.m. today in council chambers. In addition, council will discuss the possibility of naming an interim city manager.

Current City Manager Jim O’Toole is retiring after working 29 years for Escanaba including the past decade he has served as city manager. His last day on the job is June 30.

During council’s regular meeting which begins at 7 p.m. Thursday in council chambers, an update on the interview process will be presented.

Additional agenda items Thursday include discussion during closed session on labor contracts for the public safety administrators union and the public safety officers and dispatchers union.

Council will meet at 8 a.m. Monday in council chambers to approve electric, wastewater, water, and solid waste ordinances including increases in electric, wastewater and water rates.
