ESCANABA — Each year, at the Chamber Annual Dinner, the Peninsula Federal Credit Union presents the Community Ambassador Award to a member of the community who exemplifies servant leadership. The award recognizes an individual who consistently works behind the scenes to support our waterfront community.

Because of his passion, commitment, support, and continuity, Dennis Moberg, nominated by Ann Jousma Miller, was selected as the 2021 Community Ambassador of the Year.

The State History Center received a donation of century-old products produced by Marble Manufacturing of Gladstone. Dennis was contacted because of his passion and knowledge of the product, to appraise these priceless articles for a multi thousand dollar display in Lansing that drew over 50,000 visitors the first year.

Dennis was instrumental in the development of this beautiful display called “Inventing the Outdoors” and more instrumental in bringing the exhibit home to Delta County. This is the first time the State History Center has ever allowed a State-owned exhibit off site and it is now on permanent display at the Commerce Center in Escanaba.

The second exhibit at the Commerce Center is the new Upper Peninsula Military Museum and the Home of the Honor Flight Legacy.  Dennis built the display cabinets, assisted with the design and the focus of recognizing the contributions the Upper Peninsula has made toward the war effort.

Since the opening of these exhibits, Dennis has hosted groups and individuals from Boy Scouts to bus tours, sharing his time and passion with visitors.

He continues to help raise funds, promote, and volunteer his personnel time and talent to support the amazing museums.
