Foster care open house

ESCANABA — Foster home licensing workers will hold an informational open house at the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services office, 305 Ludington St., Escanaba, on Tuesday, April 19. The open house will take place from 5:30 to 7 p.m. and is for anyone who is interested in learning more about providing foster care for children locally.

Memorial UMC speakers

GLADSTONE — Memorial United Methodist Church, located at 1920 Lake Shore Drive Gladstone, is hosting a Lenten speaker series.

Every Wednesday during lent a light soup supper is held at 5:30 p.m. and a speaker of community interest presents from 6 to 7 p.m. The speaker for March 16 is Samantha Frizzell of Delta County Families Against Narcotics.

The public is invited and the church is fully accessible. For more information, the church can be reached at 906-428-9311, Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

NSDAR to meet

CALUMET — The Onagomingkway Chapter of NSDAR will hold its monthly meeting Saturday, April 9, from noon until 3 p.m. EDT at The Hut Restaurant, 58540 Wolverine St. #41 in Calumet. The meal will be a la carte.

ESCANABA — AMVETS Post 123 in Escanaba will host the band “Old Friends” Friday, March 11. The doors open at 7 p.m.

Elks Sunday brunch

ESCANABA — The Elks Lodge in Escanaba will have Sunday brunch on March 13 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Spaghetti fundraiser

HERMANSVILLE — The Floriano-Stecker-Kelly Ladies Auxiliary Unit 340 and American Legion Post 340 will be holding a spaghetti dinner memorial fundraiser on April 23.
