CHATHAM — Camp Hiawatha received its National Camp Accreditation this week.

Camp Hiawatha opened amid the COVID-19 pandemic, and with lots of planning, and special care, it has put together a good program for the scouts.

With COVID-19 considerations in mind, most of the activities are being done in a site-centric manner.

With the scouts participating from a number of areas, including Units from Lower Michigan, and Wisconsin, the units have all been grouped by geographical area into campsites.

All of the program activities are scheduled by campsite throughout the day, thus eliminating intermixing with scouts from other areas.

This week, about 180 scouts were at Camp Hiawatha participating in a very different — but very good — program.
