Breakfast at the Legion

GLADSTONE — The American Legion in Gladstone will be serving breakfast on Sunday, Feb. 16. Serving will be from 9 a.m. until noon. The public is welcome.

AAUW ‘Book Night’

ESCANABA — The American Association of University Women (AAUW) will hold “Book Night” on Feb. 20 at the home of Carol Bergquist, located at 1221 5th Ave. S. in Escanaba. Members and guests are invited to bring a favorite book to share.

The evening will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a soup supper. Snacks and desserts will be welcomed.

AAUW is open to men and women holding an associate’s degree or higher. Formed in 1881, the organization is globally recognized for its advancement of equity for women and girls through advocacy, education and research. For more information on AAUW, call 474-6545.

Eagles breakfast Sunday

ESCANABA — The Escanaba Eagles 1088 will serve breakfast Sunday, Feb. 16, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Eagles Hall, located at 608 Ludington Street in Escanaba.

The public is welcome to attend. There is a fee to attend the breakfast. For more information, call the Escanaba Eagles Club at 786-3451.

Used books sought

ESCANABA — The Delta County League of Women Voters is looking for donations of books, audiobooks, DVDs and music CDs to be sold at its annual book sale in August. The League is also in need of large print books, which are often requested.

Funds from the annual sale are used to publish voter guides and for other voter services.

Donated materials should be no more than 10 years old and in good condition.

Books can be delivered to the Daily Press Business Office at 600 Ludington Street during normal business hours. For pick up, call Pat Rudden at 280-1789.

Lenten breakfast event returns Feb. 22 in Esky

ESCANABA — The Annual Lenten Breakfast and Musical Program at Immanuel Lutheran Church, located at 600 South Lincoln Road in Escanaba, will be held Saturday, Feb. 22. Breakfast will be served at 9:15 a.m. with the program starting at 10 a.m.

The theme is “Behold, I stand at the door and knock.” In addition to soloists, the Rock-Perkins Area Cantata Choir will be participating this year.

The speaker will be Reverend Dennis Meyette.

Seating for the breakfast is limited to 200, but program seating is unlimited. Call for your breakfast reservation by Feb. 19 to 786-6771 or 233-1857.

Nursery care will be provided upon request.

A free-will donation for the breakfast and musical program will be received at the program. The ILCW will donate a portion of the proceeds to the Welcome Newborn Program at OSF St. Francis Hospital.

DAR to meet March 14

ISHPEMING — The Onagomingkway Chapter, DAR, will hold its monthly meeting on Saturday, March 14 from noon until 3 p.m. EDT at the Jasper Ridge Brewery & Restaurant, 1075 Country Lane in Ishpeming. Attendees should plan to order a meal.

Members will be happy to answer questions about genealogy and membership after the meeting. Call Melissa at 906-226-7836 with questions.

Taco Tuesday returns

GLADSTONE — Taco Tuesday is back at the Gladstone American Legion Post 71. Serving is from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The public is welcome. The events are held at Gladstone American Legion Auxiliary Unit 71, 802 Delta Ave, in Gladstone.

Free line dancing class

GLADSTONE — The Gladstone Senior Center offers free line dancing classes each Friday morning. Beginners meet at 9 a.m., and the regular class is held from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
