HERMANSVILLE — American Legion Post 340 in Hermansville will be holding a pancake and French toast breakfast on Sunday, Nov. 24 from 8 to 11 a.m. CST.

Pie and bake sale in Powers Nov. 27

POWERS — The Grace Lutheran Ladies are having a pie and bake sale in place of the chili feed in the entrance and basement of the church on Wednesday, Nov. 27 from 3 to 6 p.m. All the pies and baked goods will be fresh and homemade.

The Grace Lutheran Church is located at the corner of U.S. 2 and Main Street in Powers. It’s the “Little White Church” just north of the U.S. 2 underpass. Look for the signs.

Tree lights for sale

GLADSTONE — Honor or remember someone with a light on the Christmas tree in Gladstone’s Van Cleve Park. Lights are available to purchase at www.gladstonekiwanis.weebly.com.

Join Santa in a tree lighting ceremony, which will be held on Sunday, Dec. 8 at 5:30 p.m. Cookies and refreshments will be served.

GLADSTONE — The American Legion Auxiliary, Gladstone is making meat pies, which will be available on Friday, Dec. 6. To order, call 906-428-1050.

Elks memorial planned

ESCANABA — Each year, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks remembers and honors departed members with a memorial service. The Escanaba Elks Lodge 354 will conduct their annual memorial service for deceased Elks when Exalted Ruler Steve Victorson and Elks officers perform the ceremony in the Lodge, located at 510 Ludington Street in Escanaba on Sunday, Dec. 1 at 12:30 p.m.

The deceased Elks of the past year are: William L. Meiers Sr, Robert J Johnson, John A. Fisher Jr, Jim Rogers, Matthew G. Snyder, Hjalmer A. Olsen, Dale Koski, David Haelterman, James P. Chapekis, Patrick G. Henderson, Thomas J. Ammel (PDDGER), Ray Fontaine, Karl G. Gipp, Dr. Richard Stanchina and William Sauter (PER).

Following the ceremony, the Elks Auxiliary will serve lunch for family members and friends in the Elks dining room. The public is welcome.

Music at Amvets Friday

ESCANABA — Amvets Post 123 will host the band “Angels & Outlaws,” Friday, Nov. 22. The event starts at 7 p.m.

St. Anthony’s Church annual meat pie sale

ESCANABA — St. Anthony’s Church will be making their annual 10-inch meat pies on Dec. 12 and 13. All pies must be pre-ordered. To pre-order, call or text Debbie at 906-399-4259.

Pies will be available for pick-up from 1 to 4 p.m., at St. Thomas Church in Escanaba.

Used books sought

ESCANABA — The Delta County League of Women Voters is looking for donations of books, audiobooks, DVDs and music CDs to be sold at its annual book sale in August. The League is also in need of large print books, which are often requested.

Funds from the annual sale are used to publish voter guides and for other voter services.

Donated materials should be no more than 10 years old and in good condition.

Books can be delivered to the Daily Press Business Office at 600 Ludington Street during normal business hours. For pick-up, call Pat Rudden at 280-1789.

Northern Vegans Thanksgiving potluck

NEGAUNEE — The Northern Vegans will be having their 13th Annual Thanksgiving Potluck Dinner at Immanuel Lutheran Church, located on the corner of U.S. 41 West and Baldwin Avenue in Negaunee, on Thursday, Nov. 28. The dinner will begin at 12:30 p.m.

Guests are asked to bring a vegan dish to share — no meat, dairy, eggs or honey — or consider donating if they are unable to bring vegan food.
