American Legion steak feed set for Thursday

GLADSTONE — American Legion Post 71 in Gladstone will be hosting its monthly steak feed on Thursday, Sept. 26. Dinner will be served at 802 Delta Ave in Gladstone from 4:30 to 7 p.m.

Holy Name Class of ’70

ESCANABA — The Holy Name High School class of 1970 will have a second reunion planning luncheon on Wednesday, Sept. 25, 11 a.m. EST, at the Family Inn restaurant in Wells, Mich. All classmates are welcome to attend. Call 906-553-1300 by Sept. 21 to make a reservation.

Cribbage season now underway in Gladstone

GLADSTONE — The Bay de Noc Cribbage Club 218 2019-2020 season is underway. The cribbage club meets every Monday night for 36 weeks. It is a part of the American Cribbage Congress and plays by their rules. Nine games are played each time with the top 25 percent getting paid.

Play begins at 7 p.m. at the Lake Bluff Retirement Village. For more information call Donna Aird at 428-3844 or 280-1033.

Pancake breakfast set

HERMANSVILLE — The Hermansville American Legion Post 340 will be having a pancake breakfast, Sunday, Sept. 29 from 8 to 11 a.m. Proceeds will benefit Legion projects.

MARSP to meet Oct. 2

ESCANABA — The October meeting for the Delta County Chapter of MARSP will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 2, at noon at St. Joseph’s Church in Perkins. Members are asked to note the change in day.

A dinner will be served.

Members are asked to bring any unused candles, which will be collected and distributed to Lakestate Industries.

Sheriff Ed Oswald will give a presentation on the new jail.

Members who are not on a calling list should call 906-786-7748 by Thursday, Sept. 26. For cancellations, call the same number no later than Sunday, Sept. 29.

Upper Peninsula Legions plan fall conference

LITTLE LAKE, Mich. — The U.P. Association 2019 Fall Conference will be in Little Lake at Post 349 on Saturday, Oct. 5.

The schedule is as follows:

9 a.m. — Service Officers school of Instruction 10:30 a.m. — 11th and 12th District meetings

Noon to 1 p.m. — Lunch

1 p.m. — U.P. Association Meeting

The U.P. Association does not have a Host for the 2020 Mid-winter Conference to be held at the end of the department Commanders Winter Tour of the Upper Peninsula in January. Legion members are asked to consult their posts about the possibility of hosting this event. Interested posts should contact Commander Morrison or Raymond Carlson.

Salem Lutheran Men to hold cookout Sept. 22

BARK RIVER — The Last Supper of the Summer Cookout, sponsored by the Bark River Salem Lutheran Men, will be held Sunday, Sept. 22 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Salem Lutheran Church in Bark River. The church is located across from the Bark River Senior Center.

All are welcome at the cookout. A free will donation will be collected.

Beginner line dancing

GLADSTONE — Gladstone Senior Center offers free line dance lessons with a wide array of music each Friday morning. No partner is needed, and you don’t have to be a member of the center to participate. Class times are:

Newbie beginners: 9:15 to 10 a.m.

Regular beginners: 10 to 10:50 a.m.

Intermediate: 11 to 11:30 a.m.
