Escanaba Eagles to hold breakfast Sunday

ESCANABA — The Escanaba Eagles 1088 will serve breakfast Sunday, Sept. 15 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Eagles Hall, located at 608 Ludington Street in Escanaba.

The public is welcome to attend. There is a fee to attend the breakfast. For more information, call the Escanaba Eagles Club at 786-3451.

Music at Amvets tonight

ESCANABA — Amvets Post 123 in Escanaba will be hosting the band “Country Express” on Sept. 13 the event starts at 7 p.m.

Highland Golf Club ­rummage sale donations

ESCANABA — The Highland Golf Club is looking for donations for its annual club fundraiser rummage sale on Saturday, Oct. 5.

The club is seeking golf items, golf clothing, small appliances, tools, small furniture, decorations, and household items.

The club will not accept clothing that is not specific to golf, couches, mattresses, large appliances, TVs, or computers.

Gladstone Smear League begins Sept. 19

GLADSTONE — The Gladstone Smear League, formerly the All Saints Smear League, will begin a new season Thursday, Sept. 19. The Smear League will play all of its games at the Knights of Columbus Hall on the 700 block of Delta Avenue in Gladstone.

Anyone interested in playing as a sub or regular player can call Don Howes at 428-9825.

Summer cookout hosted by Salem men Sept. 22

BARK RIVER — The Last Supper of the Summer Cookout, sponsored by the Bark River Salem Lutheran Men, will be held Sunday, Sept. 22 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Salem Lutheran Church in Bark River. The church is located across from the Bark River Senior Center.

All are welcome at the cookout. A free will donation will be collected.

Alano Club to celebrate anniversary Sept. 29

GLADSTONE — The 36th anniversary celebration of the Delta Alano Club will be Sunday, Sept. 29. The day’s activities begin at 3:36 p.m. with the annual meeting. Guest speaker will be Cory L. A potluck supper will follow the talk. Friends of Dr. Bob and Bill W. are encouraged to attend.

Schoolhouse Museum closed for season

GARDEN — The Garden Peninsula Historical Society has closed the Schoolhouse Museum for the 2019 season. It will reopen in June 2020. The Historical Society would like to thank all the volunteers for their help.

Cribbage season now underway in Gladstone

GLADSTONE — The Bay de Noc Cribbage Club 218 2019-2020 season is underway. The cribbage club meets every Monday night for 36 weeks. It is a part of the American Cribbage Congress and plays by their rules. Nine games are played each time with the top 25 percent getting paid.

Play begins at 7 p.m. at the Lake Bluff Retirement Village. For more information, call Donna Aird at 428-3844 or 280-1033.

Holy Name Class of 1970 meeting

ESCANABA — The Holy Name High School Class of 1970 will have a second reunion planning luncheon on Wednesday, Sept. 25, 11 a.m. EST, at the Family Inn restaurant in Wells, Mich. All classmates are welcome to attend. Call 906-553-1300 by Sept. 21 to make a reservation.
