ESCANABA — The Delta-Schoolcraft ISD has been facilitating a Community Task Force with the intent of making the community the best place to live for residents. The sub-committee, Engaging Youth in the Community, focuses on offering fun activities to youth ages 8 to 18 in the community at no cost to families.

The group’s first event was at the DNR Pocket Park at the U.P. State Fairgrounds and was very well attended. The second event was at the DeYoung Family Zoo, with 99 students and chaperones attending. Hannahville School provided free busing to students from Webster, Escanaba Upper Elementary, the Salvation Army Day Camp and Hannahville areas.

Both events served as opportunities for students to enjoy a day outside with peers and positive adult mentors.
