Health and Wellness Fair planned at Bay

ESCANABA — The Bay College Health and Wellness Fair, sponsored by the Human Services Club, will be held Tuesday, Sept. 10 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Bay College in the Besse Center/HUB.

Raffle winner named

WELLS — The winner of the Wells Lions 52 Club Raffle for Aug. 12 is Rose Cole of Cornell. Cole won $100. This is week two of the raffle.

Healing prayer service

ESCANABA — Fr. Ryan Ford will be leading a healing service at St. Anne Church, 817 South Lincoln Road, Escanaba on Thursday, Aug. 29 at 6:30 p.m. for those in need of a physical, emotional, relational or spiritual healing. This service is not a Mass.

All-you-can eat breakfast

GLADSTONE — The Sons of the American Legion is sponsoring an “all-you-can-eat” breakfast on Sunday, Aug. 18 at the American Legion, 802 Delta Ave. Gladstone, from 9 a.m. to noon. Call the Legion at 906-428-1050 for more information.

Elks Family Picnic Sunday in Wells

WELLS — The Escanaba Elks 354 Family Picnic will take place Sunday, Aug. 18 at the Pioneer Trail Park pavilion from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Food, games, drinks, and more will be available. The public is welcome.

Honoree Dinner canceled

GARDEN — The Honoree Dinner, sponsored by the Garden Peninsula Historical Society, has been canceled. Honorees will be notified when a new date has been chosen for the event. The society apologizes for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Clean water campaign

ESCANABA — During the U.P. State Fair, Bethany Lutheran Church and neighboring ELCA churches will sell bottles of cold water. All money raised will be given to the global clean water fund to provide wells and pipelines to villages and families that currently walk miles for access to clean water.

Since 2014, Bethany has raised over $10,000 for clean water. The church tent will be located just off the midway.

Gladstone High School Class of 1969 reunion

GLADSTONE — Members of the Gladstone High School Class of 1969 will hold their 50-year Class Reunion on Friday Aug. 30 and Saturday, Aug. 31 at the Gladstone Yacht Club.

A Friday night meet-and-greet will be at 6 p.m. On Saturday, cocktails will be served at 5 p.m. and dinner will follow at 6 p.m. Reservations can be made by contacting Laurie Kaufman at 906-428-4623.

Escanaba Class of 1954 to hold get-together

ESCANABA — Escanaba Class of 1954 will be holding a get-together at Escanaba Country Club on Aug. 24 at 4 p.m.

MADD seeks volunteers

ESCANABA — Volunteers are needed for MADD. Opportunities are available for those interested in volunteering a couple of times a year or a couple of times a week. There are a wide variety of opportunities to match interests and expertise. Some options include speaking, answering the help-line calls, organizing victim impact panels, mailing information or just displaying MADD red ribbons.

Purple Heart 1976 meeting on April 25

ESCANABA — The Military Order of the Purple Heart (MOPH) Chapter 1976 will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, at the clubhouse building, 1202 Sheridan Road.
