Bay de Noc Stamp and Coin Club to meet

ESCANABA — The next meeting of the Bay de Noc Stamp and Coin Club will be Monday, Aug. 12 at 5 p.m. The meeting will be held in Joseph Heirman University Center room 961 at Bay College. The public is always invited to the meetings, and the club is always looking for new members.

Alzheimer’s walk ­fundraiser luncheon

GLADSTONE — A benefit Sloppy Joe luncheon will be held Sunday, Aug. 11 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at First Lutheran Church, 1212 Minneapolis Ave., Gladstone. The meal is to raise funds to support walkers in the “Walk to End Alzheimers,” which will be taking place on Sept. 14 in Escanaba.

One hundred percent of the free-will donations collected will be given to the Alzheimer’s Association. Thrivent Financial Action Team funds are being used to cover meal expenses.

Elks picnic Aug. 18

ESCANABA — The Escanaba Elks 354 Family Picnic will take place Sunday, Aug. 18 at the Pioneer Trail Park pavilion from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Food, games, drinks, and more will be available. The public is welcome.

Lakeview Cemetery accepting donations

ESCANABA — Lakeview Cemetery will be accepting donations for its annual fall rummage sale. No clothing will be accepted. All proceeds benefit the cemetery.

No donations will be accepted after Sept. 5.

Manistique coat drive

MANISTIQUE — The Michigan State Police Manistique Outpost and Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital are joining efforts to help neighbors in need.

The public is asked to donate a new or gently-used coat to the Michigan State Police Manistique Outpost on Tuesday, Aug. 27 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. All donated coats will stay in Schoolcraft County to help those in need.

Holy Name Class of ’64

Escanaba Class of ’54 gathering planned

ESCANABA — The Escanaba Class of 1954 reunion has been canceled. A fun night for classmates will be held in its place on Aug. 24 at the Escanaba Country Club.

Veterans Council to meet

ESCANABA — Delta County Veterans Council will hold its next regular meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14 at the Purple Heart Building, 1202 Sheridan Road.

Day Services seeks printed materials

ESCANABA — Community Action Agency Adult Day Services, formerly Perspectives Adult Care Center is in need of your old greeting cards and magazines to be used in different activities.

The pictures will be used to make notepads, bookmarks, and daily placemats. Cards do not have to be taken apart as they will be incorporated into an activity.

Items may be dropped off at Community Action Adult Day Services, located at the Gary Abrahamson Jr. Memory Care Center, 2635 1st Ave. S. in Escanaba (past West Highland, the last building on the left behind Bishop Noa Home) or at any senior center in the Delta County area.
