Weekly activities at Bark River Senior Center

BARK RIVER — The Bark River Seniors meet each Wednesday at the Senior Center on D Road in Bark River, with a variety of activities to share. The coffee pot is always on, starting at 9 a.m. (EST), with treats donated by local stores. If you enjoy cards or cribbage, join a game and enjoy some friendly competition. There are tai chi and sit-and-fit exercise opportunities from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Dinner is served at 11:30 a.m. and comes from the Meals on Wheels senior program. There is a cost for the meal. A calendar lets you decide if you want to order the meal each week, which can be called in by noon on Tuesday.

Bingo is played after dinner.

Veterans Council to hold September meeting

ESCANABA — Delta County Veterans Council will hold its next regular meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, at the Purple Heart Building, 1202 Sheridan Road.

Day Services seeks printed materials

ESCANABA — Community Action Agency Adult Day Services, formerly Perspectives Adult Care Center is in need of your old greeting cards and magazines to be used in different activities.

The pictures will be used to make notepads, bookmarks, and daily placemats. Cards do not have to be taken apart, as they will be incorporated into an activity.

Items may be dropped off at Community Action Adult Day Services, located at the Gary Abrahamson Jr. Memory Care Center, 2635 1st Ave. S. in Escanaba (past West Highland, the last building on the left behind Bishop Noa Home) or at any senior center in the Delta County area.

Mill retirees to hold monthly meeting

ESCANABA — The Mill Retirees group will meet on Wednesday, Sept. 4 at the Union Hall on Sheridan Road at 10 a.m. Refreshments will be provided and there will be a 50/50 drawing.

All mill retirees are invited to attend. The group meets the first Wednesday of every month.

Class of 1963 lunch

ESCANABA — The gals of the Escanaba High School Class of 1963 will be holding a monthly noon ladies’ lunch the second Wednesday of every month at the Family Inn Restaurant. Democratic Party to hold meeting Sept. 4

ESCANABA — The Delta County Democratic Party will hold its monthly meeting on the first Wednesday of the month at USW Union Hall, 1201 Sheridan Rd., Escanaba. Social is at 6:30 p.m., with the meeting to follow at 7 p.m.

Opportunity offered to save memories

ESCANABA — OSF Hospice is offering the “Life Memories” program. The Life Memories program allows OSF Hospice patients who are in the final stages of life the opportunity to relive and relate their memories for their loved ones. Volunteers conduct the person’s “life story” interviews and record them to DVD.

The program is a free service to their patients and their families. All information is kept confidential. Those interested in participating should contact OSF Hospice at 786-3915.

Dance in Rock Sept. 8

ROCK — A dance will be held at the Rock Community/Senior Center, located at 3892 W. Mapleridge Rd, on Sunday, Sept. 8 from 1 to 5 p.m. Live music will be provided by Country Express. There is a cost for the dance, and a free will donation lunch will be available. For more information, call Alice at 356-6588. All proceeds benefit the Senior Corporation.
