Garden Walk Sunday

ESCANABA — The Annual Garden Walk will be held this Sunday, July 21, come rain or shine. The walk begins at 1 p.m. and goes to 4 p.m. There are a variety of gardens this year, with large and small yards represented.

Tickets are available at Wickert Floral in the Delta Plaza Mall and Trotter’s in Gladstone. On the day of the walk, tickets will be for sale outside the Escanaba Downtown Development Authority building at 12:30 p.m. For more information, call 906-241-7385.

Eagles to hold breakfast

ESCANABA — The Escanaba Eagles 1088 will serve breakfast Sunday, July 21, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Eagles Hall, located at 608 Ludington St. in Escanaba.

The public is welcome to attend. There is a fee to attend the breakfast. For more information, call the Escanaba Eagles Club at 786-3451.

St. Joseph Parish Picnic

PERKINS — The 60th Annual St. Joseph Parish Picnic will be held on Sunday, July 21 from noon until 4 p.m. Dessert and a beverage are included.

There will be bucket and large raffles, and kids’ games. All are welcome.

Gladstone scholarship and loan checks

GLADSTONE — Scholarship and loan checks from the Gladstone Student Loan Foundation can be picked up at Gladstone School/Public Library on Monday, July 22 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4:30 to 6 p.m. After this date, scholarship checks can be picked up at the central office.

Blueberry Fest July 28

ISABELLA — The Annual Blueberry Fest will take place Saturday, July 28 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Isabella Community Hall, located on US 2 and Hwy 495. The event will feature blueberry pies and buckles, raffles, music, and a cake walk.

The event is open to the public. All proceeds and donations benefit ongoing restoration projects for the historic hall.

Christian Closet to close

ESCANABA — The Christian Closet of the Escanaba Church of Christ has been open for many years, and has enjoyed providing aid to the community by supplying clothing, food, and household items to monthly guests. The Christian Closet will be open for the last time from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, August 7.

The Christian Closet is located at the Escanaba Church of Christ building, located in Soo Hill at 5079 18th Road, Escanaba.

MADD seeks volunteers

ESCANABA — Volunteers are needed for MADD. Opportunities are available for those interested in volunteering a couple of times a year or a couple of times a week. There are a wide variety of opportunities to match interests and expertise. Some options include speaking, answering the help-line calls, organizing victim impact panels, mailing information or just displaying MADD red ribbons.

Book donations sought

ESCANABA — The Delta County League of Women Voters is looking for donations of books, audiobooks, DVDs and music CDs to be sold at its annual book sale in August. They are also in need of large-print books, which are often requested.

Funds from the annual sale are used to publish voter guides and for other voter services.

Donated materials should be no more than 10 years old and in good condition.

They can be delivered to Pat Rudden at First Bank (formerly Northern Michigan Bank), 1921 3rd Ave. N., or she can be reached at 906-280-1789 to arrange for pick-up.
