Heart of the North Lions change meeting date

BARK RIVER — Due to the Fourth of July, the Heart of the North Lions Club regular monthly meeting will be held Thursday, July 11, at 6:45 p.m. at the Bark River Area Senior Center.

Heart of the North Lions Club welcomes new members. Meetings are usually held the first Thursday of each month at 6:45 p.m. If you are interested in giving back to your community, you are invited to visit a meeting and see if Lions is for you.

The Heart of the North Lions Club is part of Lions Clubs International, the largest service club organization in the world. Its 1.35 million members in more than 46,000 clubs are serving communities in 207 countries and geographical areas around the globe. ‘Under The Radar’ stars coming to Escanaba

ESCANABA — On July 31 at 6:30 p.m., Tom Daldin and Jim Edelman of PBS Television’s “Under the Radar Michigan” will be at the Escanaba City Hall City Council Chambers to discuss their show and share stories about their adventures. A book signing will take place immediately following the presentation and copies of both “Under The Radar Michigan: The First 50” and “Under The Radar Michigan: The Next 50” will be available.

Bark River Class of 1956 reunion July 6

BARK RIVER — The Bark River Harris Class of 1956 will be having a class reunion July 6 at the Terrace. Anyone who would like to attend is asked to call Pat Taylor at 906-428-1904 or Wallen Godlewski at 906-384-6444.

Day camp at the ­historical society

ESCANABA — The Delta County Historical Society will be presenting a hands-on children’s day camp for ages 7 to 9 on July 16 titled “A Child’s Life in Early Escanaba.”

A 19th century boxed lunch will be provided. Day camp hours are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Applications for the day camp can be picked up at the museum between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. every day and will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

There is a cost to register. Checks are payable to The Delta County Historical Society and may be mailed to Ellie O’Donnell at 601 Ogden Avenue or dropped off at the Museum.

Gladstone Class of 1979 reunion

GLADSTONE — The Gladstone Class of 1979 alumni will gather at the Gladstone Golf Course, 6514 Days River 24.5 Road, Gladstone. Saturday, July 6 at 5 p.m. for their 40th reunion.

Bark River Senior Center activities

BARK RIVER — The Bark River Seniors meet each Wednesday at the Senior Center on D Road in Bark River, with a variety of activities to share. The coffee pot is always on, starting at 9 a.m. (EST), with treats donated by local stores. If you enjoy cards or cribbage, join a game and enjoy some friendly competition. There are Tai Chi and Sit-and-Fit exercise opportunities from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Dinner is served at 11:30 a.m. and comes from the Meals-on-Wheels Senior Program. There is a cost for the meal. A calendar lets you decide if you want to order the meal each week, which can be called in by noon on Tuesday.

Bingo is played after dinner.

Esky 1954 class reunion canceled

ESCANABA — The Escanaba Class of 1954 reunion has been canceled. A fun night for classmates will be held in its place on Aug. 24 at the Escanaba Country Club.
